Describe the social structure of the New Mexico area before the U. S. required the land

New Mexico was mostly Hispanic and culturally homogeneous.

Before the acquisition by USA, New mexico area was a newer settlement for the Mexican people taken over from the Spanish and now governed by the Mexicans. As the Mexicans settled the are it was mostly Hispanic by ethnicity.
