    Henry IV was the 1st monarch of the France belonging to the House of Bourbon. He was raised by his mother and after her death he succeeded to the throne. During his rule, he has display unusual remarkable religious tolerance as in 1598 Edict of Nantes were issued by him which marked the tolerance towards Huguenots.

    By issuing this Edict, he has bestowed certain concessions and rights over the Huguenots. One of the reason for his religious tolerance could be that he was originally a Calvinist but changed his faith to Catholicism for gaining the recognition the King of France.
