Explain the relationship between the Spanish and Pueblo Indians. How did this relationship shape the development of New Mexico?

The Spanish and the Pueblo Indians had terrible relations in the first couple of centuries. The Spanish conquered the Pueblo territory and killed lot of them. While they ruled over the area, the Spanish were very cruel towards the Pueblo. The Pueblo Indians hated the Spanish because of this, so they had a revolt, a successful one, and managed to kick out all Spanish people out of their land. The Spanish later were trying to negotiate with the Pueblo, and also having the occasional attack on them, which was resulting in murders. Eventually, the conflict was settled through peaceful negotiations. The Spanish gained control over the territory, but the Pueblo Indians kept the rights to the properties, as well as being able to preserve their culture. This led to New Mexico to develop into a state that has large population of Native Americans and large population of Spanish speaking people, and over time their cultures influenced each other, resulting in a very interesting and unique cultural landscape in this state.
