    In Adolf Hitler's plans, the Luftwaffe (air force) had to play a major role in destroying Britain's capacity to wage war and in crushing the morale of British people. Hiler ordered frequent bombings raids on British cities. Because he could not easily invade Britain, he could not use the same tactics he had used in France and Belgium (the Blitzkrieg).
