The marchers experienced police violence while trying to continue their march into the territory of Alabama.

    Explanation:

There were protests throughout the land against racism and the racist voting rights against the black population of America. The protesters gathered and started demonstrating peacefully. But the unwanted interference from the authorities led to Jimmy Lee Jackson's death. This further propelled the marchers on their path and when they tried to continue the march, the Alabama police hounded the peaceful marchers violently with sticks, whips and tear gas. After this violent attack by the state troopers were captured, the American citizen lent their support to the just cause in unison.
