McCarthyism and or The Red Scare
Explanation:
During the 1950s McCarthy sought upon himself of accusing people in government, writers, and actors with being communists. These blind and rather false accusations caused people to accuse each other with being communists as a power grab tactic. As the accused would likely lose fame and standing within their communities and jobs.
