How and why did imperialism grow and transform economic and political systems during the 19th and early 20th centuries?

Imperialism grew because the nations got greedy, and they started competing with each other to expand their territories. They took control of other lands such as China and Africa. This led to some wars between nations and loss of money. It also led to rebellion throughout Europe.
