    The main reason why america was reluctant to confront fascism and nazism were:

    The horrendous memory of ww2 was still fresh and every effort was for avoidance of war.

    There was widespread in difference to jewish persecution.

    The american population was multi ethinc posing significant challenges to any action that would be taken.
