    Explanation:

    Christopher Columbus is known for his discovery of New World. He wanted to reach the far East by sailing towards the west of Europe. Although he was unsure about the shape of the earth and whether he would be able to reach India, china and Japan or not. Queen Isabella and King Ferdinand of Spain funded his expedition. He set sail on October 12, 1492 and sailed for four months before landing on a small island in the Bahamas. After returning from Americas he went on there more voyages and explored Honduras, Panama, Venezuela, Jamaica and Puerto Rico. He was unsure of the fact that he had discovered a new continent.
