What factors led early man in the Paleolithic age to believe in animism?

How was the culture of the San different from the Chumash? Why?

    1. The factors that led early man in the Paleolithic age to believe in animism is their belief in the spirits or souls which gave life to human beings and these souls usually inhabit human beings, animals, plant and even inanimate objects.

    2. The Chumash were different from the San in the sense that they lived in permanent settlements and they had this materialistic attitude. They made a trade economy and they also had social class differentiation such as the wealthy, powerful, and poor. The Chumash also had their currency and chiefdom. On the other hand, the San believed that individuals should not sabotage one another as they were humble people and cast aside their pride.
