During the early 1800s, how did people most likely make money in the economy for a living in the "West"?

    I assume "the west" to mean the whole of North America.

    -Slave trade

    -Agriculture

    Explanation:

    Note that during the 1800s there was a significant increase in amount of slaves that were traded in the west. For many the slave trade business became their major source of income. Also, many of the African slaves were used for hard labor in several industries such as mines, agriculture etc.

    Another major way people made money at the time was through commercial agriculture, selling crops that were of high yied and readily demanded.
