As the Constitution was proposed there was much debate between the Federalists and Anti-Federalists regarding the powers our central government should have. There was also great concern on the part of the Anti-Federalists, that the Constitution lacked a Bill of Rights. Why do you suppose these issues were of concern for them? Why was the idea of a Bill of Rights so important to some? What about you? If you had lived in the colonial era, would you have insisted on the addition of a Bill of Rights? Why/not?
