The Missouri Compromise fixed a line in the Louisiana Territory at 36'30' N. Slavery could not exist north of this line. Why was the line placed in this general area?

    As the people in the north disliked slavery but the people in the south liked it at that time instead of abolishing it they had a compromise as if there wasnt a compromise then there would have been protests
