    This lamentable episode of the history was known like the invasion of the bay of the Pigs.

    At the height of the collapse of relations between the US and Cuba, with the support of the US Government and the CIA, an army of 1,400 Cuban counterrevolutionaries who were in exile in the United States invaded the Cuban island with the aim of destroying the country's leader, Fidel Castro, and unite the Cubans around their cause.

    However, their vessel mired in a swamp and they were attacked by troops led by Castro himself. More than 100 contrarevolutionaries were killed and the rest were arrested by the regime.
