Faced by an escalated campaign by the doves to get USA out of Vietnam, Nixon conceived a new policy he called Vietnamization. It involved the training, expanding, and equipping of south Vietnamese. Two years after the withdrawal of USA forces from the country, Saigon fell to the communist forces.
