The war in Afghanistan began on 7 October 2001, when the United States, Great Britain, Australia and the Northern Alliance of Afghanistan launched a military operation called Enduring Freedom. The main cause of the invasion was the terrorist attacks in the United States on September 11, as the American government blamed the Taliban regime of supporting and hosting terrorist groups within their territory.
