The Maurya Empire existed between 322 and 187 BCE. It was the largest political entity to have existed in the Indian subcontinent. The Empire originated after its founder, Chandragupta Maurya, managed to overthrow the ruling Nanda Empire. He achieved this by assembling an army with the assistance of the royal advisor known as Chanakya.
