    C. The United States, Great Britain, and the Soviet Union signed the Limited Test Ban Treaty

    Explanation:

During the Cold War period, the world was in panic because of the arms race between the US and USSR. On top of this, Great Britain was constantly building on weaponry. All three were performing lot of nuclear testings, and that was exactly what was making the whole situation so scary. In order to lower the tensions, and to assure the world that they will not go into another war, the Limited Test Ban Treaty was signed between these three nations. This treaty was done with the purpose to stop the testing of nuclear weapons in the atmosphere, under water, and in outer space, with only the testing and detonating underground being allowed.
