    Answer: deity was viewed as a personification or embodiment of supranatural force people felt in their lives.

    Explanation: each deity had its own dominion and such dominion had different aspects. Ares is associated with warlike activities, auto-affirmation, destructive behaviour, physical strength, wrath, attacks etc. Hypnos is associated exclusively with dreams, dreaming, sleeping. Divine powers is not possible to control and that is why they are viewed as supranatural, they are beyond ego's conscious control. Deities had usually their temples and rituals.
