children dropped out of school and ran away

(some ran away to find work other were kicked out)

women had to work and search for odd jobs to supplement the families income

Minorities lost their jobs and were always the last to be hired an dhte first to be fired. They relied on religion and family to cope with the hard times. They had to endure increased racism / discrimination
