Who recived the land of pennsylvania as payment for the debt owed by the king to his father

    William Penn, he was given a land grant of over 45,000 square miles of land from King Charles the second. Penn was going to name the land Sylvania, but the king insisted that he name the land to recognize his father who he owed, so he named the land Pennsylvania. The answer to that question is therefore William Penn.
