The policy of appeasement was a stand taken by Britain and France to avoid war with Hitler of Germany. Hitler was bent on overtaking several territories. Any attempt to stop him would lead to war.

To avoid this, the then British Prime Minister known as Neville Chamberlain, accepted the Munich Agreement, wherein Hitler was allowed to overtake Sudetenland, a part of Czechoslovakia.

Hitler, however, did not keep to his own part of the agreement, as he overtook the entire Czechoslovakia leading to another war.
