How did the outcome of the French and Indian war make Britain the dominant European power of North America?

    Britain won the French and Indian war. In the Treaty of Paris (1763) the French ceded much of its North American territory to Britain. This included French land in present day Canada and the states of Michigan down to Florida. This made Britain the dominant power in North America.
