    The goal of the Tiananmen Square protests was not even to topple the Chinese Communist Party, or to change the leadership, but to open up the government to criticism, and to allow for greater freedom in education, media, the arts and sciences.

    The goal of the anti-apartheid movement was to change the South African legal system, which was racist to the core because it gave different rights to white people in detriment to black people, who represented the majority of the South African population.

    In Aprıl 15, 1989, a protest erupted at the Tiananmen Square which was as a result of the growing concern of the the backdrop of rapid economic development and social changes in post-Mao China.

    This protest was lead by the students with the sole aim to demand for greater accountability, constitutional due process, democracy, freedom of the press, and freedom of speech.

    Their common grievances at the time included high inflation in the country, corruption, limited preparedness of graduates for the new economy as well as restrictions on political participation.
