The upheavals that began with the French Revolution hampered economic development in continental Europe by

a. blocking access to raw materials needed for manufacturing.

b. depressing prices and severely hampering the ability to produce substantial profits on new goods.

c. disrupting normal communications and thus limiting the spread of technological innovations.

d. undermining the demand for goods because of widespread war.
