The Kiowa shared pretty much the same characteristics in their way of life as the other plain people in North America. They were a patriarchal societies, were a chiefdom was in charge of the tribe and had its own special semi-sedentary structure. The Kiowa were hunters and gatherers, thus they were nomads that were moving from one place to another and were heavily dependent on the nature for their food sources. Because they were not living for a long time at the same place, they had shelters that were made in a way that they can be dislodged and than set up again at another place. The dog was the only domesticated animal they used, and it was used for primarily for hunting and protection.
