What was the challenges that women went through 1950s-1970s

it was before the feminist movement, and women were expected to stay home and have children and take care of their husband. They were far less likely to have a job, and instead were expected to have a spouse or children. A women at the time was also discouraged from being independent of a man. there was not a lot of respect for women during the 50's and they were expected to meet all of the expectations and desires of their husband. In the 1960's women started protesting manpower and fighting for equal opportunities of work and education. In 1974, the equal credit card act allowed women to have their own credit cards without permission from their husband and their credit card could not be denied. A year after that in NYC the first Woman-owned bank was open. in 1969 Yale and Princeton began accepting females and other Ivy league schools followed after. During this time period women were also able to use birth control and gained the ability to serve on Jury, so this time period was an extreme step in women's rights.
