Slavery is when a person is owned and controlled by someone of of higher power, or of higher influence, and they are being forced to work for them. The person being owned would be called a slave, and are considered the property of the person who owns them. Slaves are held captive and are unable to pursue their own lives. Slaves would work hard days for the rest of their lives in slavery.

Different countries use different legal terminologies, but "modern slavery" includes the crimes of human trafficking, slavery and slavery like practices such as servitude, forced labour, forced or servile marriage, the sale and exploitation of children, and debt bondage.
