Why did they disagree on the treaty of Versailles?

    Britain, France, and Russia had faced a lot of damage during the war in terms of lives lost and in terms of destruction. Therefore, they wanted Germany to pay. The United States didn't agree because they felt that if all the blame was placed on Germany and they were punished harshly it would eventually lead to retaliation and resentment from Germany, causing another war. I agree with the United States because looking back, they were right and the harsh punishments placed on Germany were one of the biggest causes of the second world war
