After the Civil War ended, how was the North affected economically? The agricultural economy suffered and declined. Industry thrived and the economy soon recovered. The rise in inflation bankrupted many businesses. Economic uncertainty caused businesses to fail.

    Soon after the ending of the civil war the North industry recovered easily, since most of the battles were actually fought in the south and the main devastation happened in the southern states where farms and industry were destroyed.
