The mining companies had lots of new technologies to work with in the excavation of mineral resources. The railroad created room for a more robust and efficient means of transportation, unlike driving on horses and carts. Rail transportation also improved the ease of doing business; farm produce were transported to other state via train.

    This growth affected the Native Americans in the sense that foreigners now had to encroach on their lands. They were forced to migrate to the plains. There was a civil war between the Native indians and the military in the late 19th centuries. The Native Indians were forced to cede their lands to the Government.

    America became involved in the pacific region in that they had to make diplomatic allegiance with other countries to protect their citizens. There was exploration of oil towards the ocean. They had to influence latin America with democratic system of governance.
