Why was there an increased need for mother houses in the United States?

    This was mainly because the government and policy makers noticed a direct relationship between the number of children and single mothers in the country.

    The number of children increased in families who had single mothers and was a cause for concern as it could lead to poor upbringing and child poverty which was why there was an increased need for Mother Houses in the United States.
