The feudal system started because the Roman Empire fell.
Explanation:
It affected the European society by making Europe be divided into Barbarian kingdoms. There are hundreds of Barbarian kingdoms ... It was also affected by Europe not having a civilization anymore and in addition, Europe started the Middle Ages.
