Why did France and Britain use appeasement to stop Hitler

The guarantees given to Poland by Britain and France marked the end of the policy of appeasement. Instituted in the hope of avoiding war, appeasement was the name given to Britain's policy in the 1930s of allowing Hitler to expand German territory unchecked.

They did this becuse they where scared to start onther war they new hitler wanted to take over the world but they did this thinking hitler will just stop A lot of arayn germans lived in areas hitler wanted to take over so they thougth that hitler would only invade the areas that hade germans living in it.
