What was the effect of the first Arab-Israeli war on the Palestinian Arabs?

Many Palestinian Arabs were displaced from or fled their homes.

They ended up in refugee camps in the neighboring Arab countries.

Those who remained in Israel became Israeli Citizens. However, the

failure of the Arab armies and the resulting statelessness left an

indelible mark on the Arab World as well as the Palestinian People

themselves. It defines Palestinians to this day.
