    Earl Warren was the head Supreme Court judge from 1953-1969. During this era, Warren ruled on some of the most significant court cases in America history. Usually, this resulted in increased rights for American citizens.

    An example of this would be the Brown vs. Board of Education (1954) case. In this case, the Brown family sued the school board of Topeka Kansas so that their African American daughter could attend an all white school that was closer to their home. In the majority opinion, Justice Warren ruled in favor of the Brown family. This ruling ended the doctrine of "separate but equal" facilities for blacks and whites in the school system. This allowed African American citizens more freedom to attend the schools they wanted.
