    The Roman and Byzantine empire shared several similarities:

    1. The Byzantines built an Empire that was nearly similar to the Romans in the form of how they governed themselves. These empires had governments which emphasized more on a strong centralized political system.

    2. The two empires were ruled by an emperor who oversaw the political, military, judicial, financial, and religious issues.

    3. The civilizations not only but also shared the same political system, but as well as the social structure, which was significant in indicating the social organization in a civilization.

    4. Both the Byzantine and Roman Empires consisted of a society made up of social classes: the upper class which included of officials, members of the government, the middle class which comprised of merchants, and traders, and lower class which was made up of slaves.

    3. The Roman standard of law and influence was also practiced among the Byzantines.

    4. Another similarity between these two Empires lay in the form of entertainment that took place in these cultures. The Byzantine and the Roman Empire enjoyed watching gladiator fights at a big stadium. (Rautman)
