Who was more affected, positively and negatively, by the Crusades, the Europeans or the Muslims?

The crusades resulted in the unification of warring European nations against a common threat, and gave them cause to loot and pillage people along the way. Whereas the Muslims would have to defend their lands against invaders, eventually they succeeded in this task and the Europeans would stop sending crusades.
