    Abolitionists and SOME slaves were for, traders, owners, and some slaves were against

    Explanation:

    At the end of the civil war (when they started enforcing the emancipation proclamation) not all slaves wanted freedom. In their eyes, even though most owners were extremely cruel, they got their basic needs met in exchange for their efforts. Because new laws required them to be paid, owners couldn't afford to employ them all. This caused some former slaves to be jobless, broke, homeless, and too poor for food and water, which was worse than being a slave in the first place as they struggled to survive.
