In the Case "Munn vs Illinois" of 1880, Munn challenged the law of the state of Illinois which permitted the maximum set of rates for the use of grain elevators. Munn, who owned a grain elevator, claimed that the state was depriving him the right for their liberty of property and therefore violated the 14th amendment. However, the Supreme Court ended up disagreeing and ruled against Munn.
