How does Franklin Roosevelt differed from the conservative presidents of the 1920s?

    President Roosevelt was an active Democrat backed by progressives with a belief in the power of a strong federal government.

    So, unlike the previous Presidents, Roosevelt believed in using the government to solve problems like the depression.
