the second messenger CAMP is formed by the adenylyl cyclases (ACs) by catalysis of ATP to CAMP and inorganic pyrophosphate. 1 formed, CAMP can activate protein kinase A (PKA) that turns phosphorylates intracellular proteins to mediate specific cellular responses.
