Al Green pushed for President Trump impeachment by accusing the president of committing great acts of misbehaving while in office thus describing him as not fit for President. He explained that Trump's support towards the protest of white supremacists in Virginia and his criticism of players in NFL act of kneeling during reciting the National Anthem has shown that the President was promoting policies that could harm national economy and undermine national security. Al Green explained that Trumps actions and decisions on some national matters were supporting hatred and division among Americans. For example, He cited the case of temporary shutdown of Immigration from Muslim nations and the treatment of Puerto Rico after Hurricane Maria to be self-centered.
