Short Answer: C

By the time Okinawa was done, American Casualties were about 50000 all tolled. Many more Japanese were killed or wounded. The total military force of Japan was roughly 100000: they showed that they were willing to fight to the last man.

The Allies knew that the next battle was on Japan itself and they faced 1,000,000 men desperate to defend their homeland.

Truman knew all of this and decided to go for a quick victory. Hence Hiroshima and 3 days later, Nagasaki.
