    Hamilton was in charge of a battalion of light infantry during the Siege of Yorktown. He was in charge of attacking Redoubt n. 10 and he did it successfully with unloaded guns and only bayonets fixed on their guns. They took the redoubt in less than 10 minutes.

    He was widely recognized as a hero for his key role in Yorktown Victory, as a result of this victory, peace talks were initiated with Great Britain and it would lead to American independence two years later.
