What did the blockades during the war of 1812 effect?

    The United States declared war on Great Britain on June 18, 1812 ... The blockade was lifted on March 6, 1815 after news was received in North America that the December 24, 1814 Treaty of Ghent had ended the war. Mail to or from American ports had four options to cross the British blockade.
