    The Alphabet

    Explanation:

Phonetic annotations were developed by the Phoenicians from Semitic writing and become alphabetic in the 15th century B. C., being widespread throughout the ancient world.

The archaic Phoenician alphabet originated all current alphabets. The system consists of 22 signs that allow the elaboration of the phonetic representation of any word.

As the Phoenicians were merchants and needed to write down their transactions, they were able to bring their method of phonetic representation to the Middle East and Asia Minor, as well as the Arabs, Etruscans and Greeks, reaching the Iberian Peninsula.
