Reconstruction was a challenging time for the South. The process of rebuilding the South was slow and arduous. Major cities such as Atlanta and Vicksburg were in states of disrepair. Cotton fields and other agricultural sites were destroyed and the South lacked a stable currency. The Reconstruction process lasted from 1865-1876 when federal troops were withdrawn. The North rebuilt much of the Southern infrastructure. The process would receive a grade of B.
