This statement is false, because during the 30s, the world was experiencing the consequences of the Depression, and the unions had not achieved their goals, in fact, the new promises of prosperity under the policies of the "New Deal" conducted by President Roosevelt, for example, The National Industrial Recovery Act in 1933, granted colective bargaining as well as The National Labor Relations Act in 1935 compelled industries to bargain with laborers, so this decade was precisely theone in which unions gained remarkable strenght and nowadays, one can easily find many unions in many different trades.
