It was highly motivated by the previous wars and it was a step taken by the UN to avoid any war-like situations in the future. It was for the first time that the countries came together to take a step towards secure the human rights. The declaration includes "civil and political rights", such as the right to life, liberty, free speech and privacy. These are the famous four freedom speeches.
